Businesses Suggest Solutions Amid Childcare Crisis

According to The Assembly article “N.C. Businesses Scramble to Address Child Care Crisis”, North Carolina is facing a significant childcare challenge.  More than a quarter of parents of children aged five and under are leaving the workforce due to a lack of affordable options.

The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated this issue, leading to the closure of many childcare centers and a decrease in licensing. Businesses, nonprofits, and local governments are attempting various solutions.  Sharing childcare costs between employers and parents, providing resources to reduce operational expenses for daycare centers, and offering raises to early childhood educators pursuing professional development are a few of the suggested solutions.
